If you haven't already been here, I suggest visiting a couple places in my neck of the woods.  Lake Minnewaska State Park near New Paltz, NY, is a dog friendly (with lead) place to visit, swim, hike, mountain bike or ride horses.  When you get done with your day there drive down the hill to the Guilded Otter Brewery for dinner and a cold one or two. http://www.gildedotter.com/splash.htm

If you go during the second week of June, the mountain laurel are out(I post as gunx there):

If you go in mid August you can pick blueberries and/or huckleberries all day.  The views in Minnewaska are amazing (waterfalls, sheer cliffs, etc):

I am not sure where that is exactly, need to go to the map.I have been to Norwich NY and it looked alot like the photo. Sounds like an awesome area to visit, we love to track down waterfalls and the Guided Otter Brewery looks like a good watering hole for sure. Thanks for stopping and posting!
